Richard Tatum

President & CEO

In his role as President & CEO, Richard Tatum leads the Avintus strategic, cultural, and growth initiatives. He works closely with the leadership, sales and service teams responsible for bringing the company's innovative retirement plan and HR solutions to clients nationwide.

Richard's career at Avintus started as an intern in 1998 when the company was called Midsouth Pension Consultants. He enjoyed his experience at Midsouth Pension Consultants so much that he decided to join the firm full time after receiving his Bachelor of Science in Finance/Economics and Business Management (Magna Cum Laude) from Lipscomb University in 2000.

After becoming a firm partner in 2002, Richard assumed responsibility for the company’s operations. His main focus was leveraging technology to streamline processes. This enabled his team to focus on delivering the best client service experience and scale effectively. Richard holds a variety of professional designations, including Chartered Retirement Plans Specialist (CRPS®), Qualified 401(k) Administrator (QKA) and Qualified Pension Administrator (QPA). He is a member of the American Society of Pension Professionals and Actuaries (ASPPA).

A believer in community service, Richard serves on the Board of Trustees for Nashville Children’s Theatre, the Steering Board of Youth Leadership Brentwood, and is a graduate of the Leadership Brentwood class of 2009. He and his family are also active in their church and support various non-profits and important causes in the greater Nashville community.

In his time away from Avintus, Richard loves spending time with his wife, Suzanne, and their three children. He also enjoys coaching his children in youth basketball and tennis, playing golf, and listening to Jazz music.
