Veronica Franks

Chief Operating Officer

As Chief Operating Officer, Veronica Franks oversees the delivery of Avintus' human resources, payroll and retirement plan administration services. Since starting her career in 1996, Veronica has used her experience as a human resources generalist, employment law specialist and HR consultant to design innovative solutions that balance administrative accountability with business reality.

Veronica is the architect of the company's burden-lifting administrative solutions and a strategic advisor to business leaders. "So much of what I do involves coaching," says Veronica, who chose a career in HR after an internship experience at a Texas hospital. "Many business owners are at a loss when it comes to basic employee management tasks. They don't always know where to find and select employees, what to pay them, how to manage their performance, how to train them, how to keep them motivated or, when all else fails, how to terminate them. That's where I come in."

After earning a Bachelor of Arts in Communication and Management from East Texas Baptist University (Magna Cum Laude), Veronica landed an entry level HR role at Longview Regional Medical Center in Longview, TX. In just a few months, after a promotion to Employment Coordinator, Veronica was coordinating the employment process and advising nurse managers on every aspect of hiring. After two years at Longview, Veronica broadened her generalist experience as Human Resources Manager at BFI in Shreveport where she served as the key HR advisor in northwest Louisiana. "If there was an employment action anywhere in the region, I was involved in it," recalls Veronica, who guided company executives through the employment law minefield and oversaw performance management, payroll, benefits administration and training. While at BFI, Veronica earned a Master of Arts in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from Louisiana Tech University.

After relocating to Nashville in 2003, Veronica joined Avant Resources as an HR Consultant and worked with a variety of businesses in Middle Tennessee. Then, after meeting Jason Poling at a Nashville area networking group, Veronica learned that Avintus was interested in offering human resources services. In 2005, Veronica joined the Avintus team and launched the company's human resources division.

Though Veronica has spent many years designing administrative solutions, her experience as a strategic HR coach means she never loses sight of the big picture. "Clients will call me and they're freaking out because they have a crisis," says Veronica, who earned the SPHR (Senior Professional in Human Resources) designation awarded by the Human Resource Certification Institute. "But when the call is over, they're calm because they have a plan of action. I find it very rewarding."

When she's not keeping clients out of hot water, Veronica enjoys shopping, watching movies, and volunteering at church. She lives in the Nashville area with her husband, Jeff.
